Our Teams and Programs
At Clutch Athletics, we are committed to developing skilled, competitive, and disciplined athletes who are prepared to succeed both on and off the field. Our program is built on long-term player development, challenging athletes through high-level competition while teaching the habits, accountability, and mental toughness required to compete at the next level.
Led by Coach Dan, Varsity Baseball Coach at Broad Run High School and a coach with the Crab Claw Classic alongside MLB scout and college-placement mentors, Clutch Athletics is designed with a clear understanding of what it takes to compete in Northern Virginia high school baseball and beyond. Our coaching staff is intentionally built with teachers of the game, coaches who are passionate about developing young athletes, including experienced parents, former college players, and recent collegiate athletes who players can connect with and learn from.
More than just a travel baseball organization, Clutch Athletics is a developmental pathway. Players are encouraged to stay together, grow together, and build lasting relationships as teammates throughout their journey. Each age level builds intentionally on the previous one, creating continuity in coaching, culture, expectations, and development. By the time players reach the Varsity level of Clutch Athletics, they are prepared to compete with confidence, leadership, and the experience of having grown within a program built to prepare them for high school baseball, college opportunities, and life beyond the game.
Our 2026 & 2027 Teams
9U/10U – Clutch Athletics
At the 9U/10U level, players build the foundation for long-term baseball development. Athletes learn proper mechanics for hitting, throwing, fielding, pitching, catching, and base running while developing athletic coordination, confidence, and a love of competition. Practices emphasize purposeful repetition, body control, and learning to train with focus and energy.
Players are introduced to the core values of Clutch Athletics, Commitment, Leadership, Unity, Toughness, Character, and Hustle, through daily habits, teamwork, accountability, and effort. Coaches create a high-energy environment where players learn resilience, sportsmanship, and how to compete the right way.
At this stage, the priority is to build strong fundamentals, develop baseball IQ, and create passionate athletes who enjoy the process of learning and improving with no burnout!
11U/12U – Clutch Athletics
The 11U/12U level is where players begin transitioning from foundational baseball into advanced game awareness and competitive play. Athletes continue refining offensive and defensive fundamentals while learning the strategic elements of baseball on the 50/70 field, including leads, steals, pickoffs, balks, first-and-third situations, and more advanced pitching and catching responsibilities.
Players begin to understand how the game speeds up mentally and physically. Practices focus heavily on baseball IQ, situational awareness, decision-making, communication, and learning how to handle pressure in competitive environments. Strength, speed, mobility, and arm-care habits also become more intentional parts of development.
This age level is critical for building confidence, toughness, and self-discipline as athletes prepare for the transition to the full-size field and higher levels of competition.
13u/14u – Clutch Athletics
At the 13U/14U level, athletes transition onto the full 60/90 field and begin preparing for the demands of high school baseball. Players continue sharpening advanced offensive and defensive skills while developing a deeper understanding of game strategy, situational execution, and positional responsibilities.
Our coaching staff emphasizes consistency, preparation, and attention to detail as players face increased game speed, stronger competition, and greater physical demands. Athletes compete in regional and national tournaments while continuing to develop strength, speed, arm care, and movement efficiency.
Mental performance becomes a major focus at this stage. Players learn how to manage failure, compete under pressure, communicate effectively, and become dependable teammates and leaders. The goal is to prepare athletes not only for the next game but also for the expectations and standards of high school baseball.
JV (15u/16u) – Clutch Athletics
The Junior Varsity level is designed to prepare athletes for the realities and expectations of high school baseball. Players continue refining advanced skills while learning to compete consistently against stronger, faster, and more experienced opponents.
Practices become increasingly detail-oriented and position-specific, emphasizing execution, situational baseball, leadership, mental toughness, and preparation habits that translate directly into high school programs. Athletes are challenged to take ownership of their development through accountability, work ethic, recovery, strength training, arm care, nutrition, and communication.
Players learn how to manage adversity, handle pressure, compete for roles, and contribute within a team-first culture. The focus shifts beyond simply developing tools and toward learning how to perform consistently, earn trust, and become complete baseball players capable of contributing at the varsity level and beyond.
Varsity (17u/18u) - Clutch Athletics
The Varsity level represents the culmination of the Clutch Athletics development pathway. At 17U/18U, athletes are expected to compete with maturity, discipline, leadership, and advanced baseball understanding while preparing for college baseball and future opportunities in the game.
Players continue refining high-level offensive, defensive, pitching, and mental-performance skills in a competitive environment that mirrors the expectations of collegiate baseball. Development focuses on advanced game planning, situational execution, leadership, physical preparation, recruiting exposure, and consistent performance under pressure.
Athletes are trained to think and prepare like college players — managing routines, recovery, communication, accountability, and competitive focus on a daily basis. Coaches work closely with players to help maximize their potential, identify next-level opportunities, and prepare them for success both on and off the field.
The Varsity level is designed for athletes committed to pursuing excellence, competing at a high level, and representing Clutch Athletics with professionalism, toughness, and character.
